With the days getting shorter, the leaves nearly gone from the trees, and parades with balloon floats just around the corner, one thing is unavoidable…the Christmas Holiday shopping season is almost upon us.
Okay, admittedly the idea of spending money right now is not the most exciting of concepts. The truth is, sometimes you need things and this crumbling global economy isn’t going to change that.
So many things can be said about New York Women, but one thing is definitely true across the board – they love their accessories. While every woman may not have the shoe fetish that Carrie Bradshaw has, inside every woman is the love for a great handbag.
Everything seems to start out as a simple little idea. Then, before you know it, it’s turned into some big deal with lots of flash and bang. Take New York City for example.
Okay, so New York City may not be the hot spot for heathens of the world like it was twenty years ago: Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum and BB King’s Blue’s Club have long since replaced the porn theatres and head shops that made city the true land of the degenerate.
What New Yorker doesn’t like sleek, scaled down coolness? This is the city were coolest of the cool create what’s cool. This means that all types gravitate towards the City That Never Sleeps to get their hands on a piece of the action.
When you were young, you probably heard your mother say things like: “turn off that light - don’t waste electricity.” Or “Eat your dinner, don’t you know there’s starving people in Africa.”
It's summertime. The days are long, the skies are blue...so what does that spell? Two words...OUTDOOR FUN.
New York is the capital for all things cultural, retail, and culinary. It has all types of escapes, from beaches and amusement parks, to botanical gardens and zoos – truly everything that you’d want at your fingertips.
New York in the summertime brings to mind lots of different things - Shakespeare in the Park, Monday Night Movies in Bryant Park, and Fourth of July Fireworks on the East River.
Even if you've only been in New York City for a short time, there are things that will quickly become obvious to you: Houston Street sounds nothing like a city in Texas, it's easier to find a pedicure than a public bathroom, and the new always replaces the old.

The recent exhibition, “Prospectors: Alex Thullen & Matt Fiske” opened in December 2017 at the Companion Gallery in Humboldt, Tennessee. This show represented the culmination of a major shift in Thullen’s work over the last year.
On Thursday, July 13, Savannah, Georgia’s LGBT community celebrated the grand opening of the Savannah LGBT Center. With estimates of between 10,000 to 16,000 people identifying as LGBT in a city of about 146,000, it’s been a long time coming.
Eureka Spring’s Zeek Taylor is a trailblazing Hintergay. Without trailblazers like Marsha P. Johnson, Larry Kramer and Ellen DeGeneres, where would the LGBT community be? People willing to stand up for things, like basic human rights, are the cornerstones of our community.
Without thinking about it, I blurted out: “Instead of working for the weekends, how about we make the weekends our life?”
By December 7, San Diego resident Makana Rowan had reached his boiling point. That night, he opened up his computer to Facebook and launched into a stream-of-consciousness rant. “I was struck by how personally I took the results of the election.” He remembers. He had to get it out:
Celebrities like Laverne Cox, Chaz Bono and Caitlyn, have brought the transgender community into the spotlight in recent years. Despite this newfound exposure, many lesbians, gay men and bisexuals still misunderstand their transgendered brothers and sisters. The result often leads to feelings of ostracism and rejection.
When Lady Gaga appeared, on the edge of glory, on the Super Bowl LI half-time stage, her glittery outfit and powerful voice hit home with fans in the stadium and throughout the world. She began with an American theme many pundits have called political commentary on the current presidential administration, and then transitioned into a stream of fan favorites including Born This Way.
Good news — since 1955 the number of deaths from cervical cancer has dropped by 74 percent. The primary reason for this is early detection. Bad news — in the borough of Queens, rates for early detection are much lower than the national average.
Food
Last year I was excited when the Burlington-based weekly Seven Days published an insert featuring restaurants participating in Vermont Restaurant Week. I couldn’t wait to sample dishes from some of the highly touted localvore eateries I’d read about since moving to Vermont three years earlier.
When you first approach this East Village haunt, you may think you’re at a bar, not a restaurant. The truth is, while it started out as a bar serving food once a week, it’s since become a popular spot for delicious comfort food at great prices.
Situated smack in the middle of the Marc Jacobs re-gentrified West Village, Maremma serves traditional Tuscan fare in a rustic Italian cowboy-themed atmosphere – odd sounding, but it works.
Although they serve Da Bronx Martini, don’t expect a mad-cool crowd at Mad46. The latest rooftop bar opening up just in time for the sweltering summer heat, this Midtown perch on the 19th floor of the Roosevelt Hotel shuts down at midnight and mostly caters to the after-work crowd.
You may think Greenwich Village needs another Mexican restaurant like it needs a new nail salon or another bank branch, but this recently opened restaurant brought to you by chef David Schuttenberg (of Fatty Crab fame), is worth taking a closer look at.
As if you haven’t already heard, New York, the Country and the World are in the tank right now. There are a lot of things you can do which involve panic, worry, anxiety, etc…
